Types of Jewelry Chains
By Carlos Somaniego
There is no jewelry collection that can be truly complete without a jewelry chain. Men or women can wear
jewelry chains alone or carrying a pendant. Below you can get some great guide on how to recognize all the popular chains.
1. The “Wheat” chain.
Because of wheat pattern is constructed of ovals that have been a little twisted, it’s called the wheat chain.
These links are connected as well as intertwined in order to create an intricate necklace. The design gives a woven appearance after it completed.
2. The “Rolo” chain.
A “rolo” become one of
the most distinctive chain styles. The picture perfect circular links are joined together, just like a string of donuts. To create a subtle or bold look, large or small links are used to make them.
3. The “Box” chain.
A box chain has square in shape. Because of the links on them, they look like little boxes or squares. The jeweler usually calls this type of
jewelry chains as the Venetian chain.
4. The “Mesh” chain.
Just looks like mesh,
the mesh chain is a bit wider than the usual types of jewelry chains. In a fine manner, small twisted circular links are woven together. Sometimes we can find at least five tiny links in width and laid flat.
5. The “Snake” chain.
This
jewelry chains are common options of neck chain for men. Snake jewelry chains have a serpentine look.
6. The “Byzantine” chain.
At first glance, the Byzantine chain looks like a random mess of interwoven metal, but much thought goes into the construction. You can imagine small circular shapes so closely intermingled that they are barely discernable, a little like a tangle of a bird’s nest. It used to mention Byzantine style.
7. The “Rope” chain.
Because
it looks just like rope, people call them as the “rope” chain. It’s comprised of a minimum of two linked chains that are fastened as one. If you look closely at each chain, you can see that ten or more smaller strands of metal make each chain. When the chains are all twisted together, it has the appearance of a length of rope.
8. The “Bead” chain.
Joining together with a single strand of metal that’s how a bead chain looks. Small gaps between each bead link usually are available in a bead chain.
We can look for plenty more jewelry chains that are not listed here. If we are going to shop, some of the more common chains can be found. So when online pictures of necklaces or jewelry chains are not clear, you can read these descriptions as well as compare
